Sporting Cristal are a Peruvian football club who were founded on the 13th of December, 1955, in the district of Rímac, Lima. The businessman Ricardo Bentín Mujica, who at the time was the owner of the Backus and Johnston Brewery, took the initiative to create this football club along with his wife Esther Grande de Bentín.
From their early days, the club stood out for their focus on sports development and their commitment to excellence within Peruvian football. Today, Sporting Cristal are a benchmark club in Incan football, having won the national first division league title twenty times.
The key to their success lies in their constant evolution and their youth system, where they have won most of the youth and reserve championships held to date. Throughout their history, Sporting Cristal have been the starting point for many great players. It is no coincidence that it is one of the clubs that has contributed the most players to the Peru national team over the years.
They currently still play in the first division, but since 1995, they have been playing at the “Alberto Gallardo” stadium, located in the Lima district of San Martín de Porres.
