Club Cerro Porteño, who are they?

Club Cerro Porteño are one of the most important institutions in Paraguayan football. The team were founded on the 1st of October, 1912, with a very particular purpose: to calm the tensions between the two major political parties in the country, the Colorado and the Liberal. These parties were in constant conflict, represented by the colours red and blue, respectively.

Located in the traditional Obrero neighbourhood of Asunción, Cerro Porteño have become a symbol of unity and passion for its supporters. To date, they have accumulated thirty-nine domestic trophies, including thirty-four first division titles.
